Contraception
Barrier methods
Barrier methods of contraception include both male and female condoms, diaphragms and cervical caps. If used correctly, they can be 92% to 98% effective method at preventing pregnancy.
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) and systems (IUSs) are small, T-shaped devices that are inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. IUSs release the hormone progestogen, while IUDs are hormone-free.
This section provides information for both healthcare professionals and patients on these methods of contraception.
