| Cytology is the branch of pathology that studies the diagnosis of disease at a cellular level. Cervical screening uses cytology methods to identify cervical pathology.The NHS Cervical Screening Programme was introduced by the Department of Health in 1988, instructing all health authorities to introduce computerised recall systems and meet quality standards to deliver the service. |
