Hormonal contraceptives
Hormonal contraceptives are 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. However, they do not provide protection against sexually transmitted infections.
Current hormonal contraceptive options include the oral contraceptive pill and contraceptive implants, injections and patches. They are only available to women as the ‘male pill’ is still being researched. This section considers the different hormonal choices available.
