Examination, treatment and referral services
Sexual health services are available via a variety of routes, including general practice, GUM clinics, family planning clinics and young people's services. It is important that these services are tailored to the needs of patients who need them most and that patients know how to access the services in their area.
The Government has identified several targets for sexual health in the UK, including a reduction in the under-18 conception rate, faster access to GUM services, a reduction in the transmission of STIs and increased uptake of chlamydia screening. These targets will be achieved through investment and modernisation of NHS sexual health services.
